GDC Online 2011 is perhaps one of the most anticipated events in the online gaming world, and with the mobile and online games industry progressing at unbelievable speed, Universally Speaking headed over to keep up to date, learn, network and stay up to date with the progress of the online and mobile world.
This year it was packed with new faces and experienced gaming veterans. Universally Speaking sent over Loreto Sanz Fueyo (Localisation Manager) and Samantha Whale (Marketing & Biz Dev Exec.) to exhibit, network and meet new faces.
According to gdconline.com, “GDC Online 2011 hosted a record-breaking 3,350 game developers, business professionals and industry luminaries and, 145 sessions, summits and tutorials hosted by 226 industry-leading speakers.” It certainly was no small affair.
Exhibiting at the event, Universally Speaking found it a busy, great way to network and easy to meet new faces. It was also a successful way to generally speak to other industry professionals and learn about their experiences.
GDC Online 2011 had some fantastic networking parties that in fact, we lost track of how many we went to. Each networking party had a nice relaxed atmosphere and was very enjoyable to be a part of.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone we met for their warmth towards networking and the expansion of knowledge and also those companies who hosted and sponsored these events at GDC Online 2011. It was fantastic to have such great hospitality and meet such wonderful people.
Samantha managed to find time to delve into the Agile Roundtable hosted by Bioware, and she described it as, “one of the most informative roundtables I have ever had the pleasure of taking part in”, whilst Loreto managed to go to a couple including one about porting iOS to Android hosted by Steve Sargent from Appi Entertainment.
For Universally Speaking, it was an experience worthwhile. Having never attended a GDC Online event, it was good to see a diverse crowd of attendees different to that of the usual GDCs and have the opportunity to go to some fantastic sessions which were exceptionally informative and enjoyable.
All in all it was a job well done from all ends.
See you next year!
